Liz caring for a boarding dog at MutTrails

Your dog stays in a calm, home environment with full supervision, small groups, and no cages. They join our daily countryside walks, settle indoors with us, and sleep as part of the home routine.

Hi, I’m Liz, and I know how it feels to leave your dog. That’s why every boarding guest at MutTrails is cared for as part of the family, with a steady routine, plenty of reassurance, and the kind of environment that helps dogs relax properly while you are away.

Many of the countryside routes we use are featured in our MutTrails Walk Guide Library.

Safe, settled, and properly cared for, not just looked after.

A Typical Day at MutTrails Boarding

A calm, structured routine helps boarding dogs settle quickly, feel secure, and enjoy their stay.

🍽️
Breakfast & Gentle Start

The day begins quietly with a gentle wake-up, breakfast in each dog’s own space, fresh water, and time to settle before the day gets going.

🌞
Morning Countryside Walk

We head out for fresh air, movement, and social time on our group countryside walks, keeping travel short and the experience relaxed.

🛏️
Midday Rest & Reset

After the morning walk, dogs come home to dry off, unwind, nap, enjoy the garden, or simply relax indoors for a proper rest.

🌳
Afternoon Play & Supervision

The afternoon is for secure-field play, space to move, and supervised interaction, with cooler woodland options used when the weather is too warm.

🌅
Evening Wind-Down

As the day slows, dogs enjoy calm garden time or warm indoor snuggles, followed by dinner, a final comfort break, and a settled bedtime routine.

🌙
Nightly Update

Before lights-out, you receive a WhatsApp update and video so you can see your dog relaxed, comfortable, and ready for sleep.

Boarding FAQs

Common questions about our calm, cage-free home boarding in Andover.
Do dogs sleep in crates or freely?
Boarding is completely cage-free. Dogs sleep on sofas, dog beds, or in their favourite cosy spot, just as they would at home.
Is someone with the dogs overnight?
Yes. Liz sleeps downstairs with the dogs every night, which helps nervous or first-time boarders feel settled and reassured.
How do you help anxious dogs settle?
We use quiet introductions, a steady routine, soft lighting, and plenty of human presence. Many dogs settle more easily in a home environment than in kennels.
How many dogs do you board at one time?
Numbers are kept low so each dog gets proper care, supervision, and space to settle without the home feeling crowded or chaotic.
Do boarding dogs get walked every day?
Yes. Suitable dogs join our countryside group walks. If a dog needs a quieter day, we adapt with garden time, rest, and individual enrichment.
Can I bring my dog’s own bed or blanket?
Yes. Familiar items that smell like home can help dogs settle more quickly. Beds, blankets, and comfort items are welcome, but please do not bring toys.
What should I pack for boarding?
Please bring your dog’s food for the full stay, any medication they need, a coat in winter, and their food bowl. You are welcome to bring their bed too. We provide everything else.
What time are drop-offs and pick-ups?
We offer flexible times where possible. Let us know your approximate travel plans when booking and we will arrange the most suitable time.
Do you offer a trial before boarding?
Yes, where needed. A trial helps us see how your dog settles, and gives you peace of mind before a longer stay.
How do I book boarding?
You can book through our online booking system or contact us directly to check availability and ask any questions first.
